Houston, Texas.  On January 28, 2014, the Buche & Associates trial team secured a defense verdict in a trade secret and copyright infringement case in the matter of Ultraflo Corporation v. Pelican Worldwide, Inc., et.al., Civil Action No. H-09-0782 in the Court of the Honorable Melinda Harmon.  After many years of litigation, a jury of twelve returned a verdict in favor of the defense.  At trial, the Plaintiff requested approximately $2.3 million in actual economic damages and also requested the jury award punitive damages in an unspecified amount, but suggested awards to the jury ranging as high as 20 times actual damages (roughly $46 million). The jury found no trade secrets and no copyright infringement and awarded no damages. The alleged trade secrets were the nominal dimensions and tolerances of certain lines of butterfly valve products.  Lead counsel for the defense was John Buche.  Scott Compton, Greg Ryn and Lindsay Molnar also assisted throughout the trial.
